At tlw beginning of the year it was suggested to the seniors — in a somewhat questioning manner — that it might be advisable to change the name of the yearbook. In the meetings of the Editorial Staff the subject was considered seriously. As a result there was placed in the IronI hall of the school a suggestion box into which any student could put his idea of a suitable name for the booh. Into the box I dropped a card with my idea, This Year . One night at play practice Attmore Pollock and I were discussing the name with Miss Laird. When Punky decided suddenly that Our Year” seemed much more suitable than I his Year , I agreed. Several days later the seniors voted on a new name for the book, and to my surprise The Cuckoo became OUR YEAR . LEW STRATTON.

 As we look back over the years spent in high school, we are amazed at the many improvements we can find. I he Downingtown lligh School has become the Downingtown joint Area High School, a new wing has been added to the high school building, twenty acres ol land adjacent to the high school have been purchased for future development, a full time guidance director and a librarian have been employed, the Industrial Arts Department has been expanded, an additional lunchroom has been added, and the cafeteria has been remodeled.
