SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President TERESA CIARLONE Vice President RALPH D. MILLER Treasurer FRANK DELIO Secretary DOROTHY KIPP ☆ CALENDAR SENIOR HIGH ACTIVITIES OF THE CLASS OF 1954 1951-1952 —SOPHOMORE YEAR October—Magazine Drive The class of '54 started the year by making almost $1,000 in the magazine drive. March—Sophomore Hop The theme of the dance was ’’Blue Moon. Dottie Kipp and Chad Campbell were chosen king and queen. ★ ★ ★ 1952-1953 —JUNIOR YEAR September—Junior-Senior Reception The reception was very successful and enjoyed by everyone. October—Farm Show Dottie Kipp was crowned the queen of the Farm Show. The Juniors received many awards given at the show. November—Turnabout Dance The Whippet Whirl was quite a success. December—Christmas Play The Christmas play was very unusual because the Juniors not only presented it but they wrote it as well. The two authors were John Ramsay and Esther Flowers. March—Franklin Institute The chemistry classes spent a day at Franklin Institute where they were treated to electric shocks. April—Junior Prom The theme of the prom was Moon Over Miami. At this dance Honey Lou McNelly and Bernard Cellini were chosen to reign as the queen and the king. May -Gettysburg The class spent a day visiting historic Gettysburg. 1953-1954 —SENIOR YEAR September—Junior-Senior Reception The Seniors spent the evening dancing and playing games at the high school, but where did they go after the party was over? October—Farm Show Audrey Samworth was chosen to be the queen of the 1953 Farm Show. The class of '54 has been honored by having two Farm Show queens. Broomstick Ball Not only high school students but also spooks were present. November—Senior Play After six weeks of rehearsals the Senior Class presented Our Miss Brooks. The play was a success, playing to full houses both nights. A party was held by the cast after the play. January -The Palestra The Downingtown High School basketball team met the West Chester team to play off the tie for first place in the league. February—Student Day The Seniors took over classes and became teachers for a day. May—Senior Exams The final exams were difficult but the Seniors were only too glad to take them, for they pointed the way to the end of school. May—Class Trip At last the day which the class looked forward to for three long years had arrived. It was the last social affair for the group in high school. Baccalaureate Another occasion looked forward to for so many years has now become history to the class. June—Commencement The members of the class of 1954 made it and have become alumni of Downingtown Joint High School.
