Our class colors are Crimson and Silver and the class flower is the American Beauty. The officers of our class are as follows: President—John Moyer Vice-President—Sam Peck Secretary—William Crawford Treasurer—'Grace Hadfield Our class is the backbone of the school. It is full of pep and is always the first in any new activity. It is spoken of as THE Junior Class. Let us hope that we will keep our lively reputation in the new high school. By Beryl E. Hurlock. Page Thirty-one TEE CECECC Sophomore Qlass History APPROXIMATELY ninety in number we entered high school as Freshmen. Here we were properly initiated at the Freshman Reception and a “Doggie Roast.” Being Freshmen we did not organize. Now we are Sophomores, about 78 in number. In this class there are many talented members. As Sophomores we organized as follows: President—Andrew Maclntire Vice President—Harry Elston Secretary—Mary Merkt Treasurer—Palmer Raysor Although we like being Sophomores we are waiting for the coming twro years. As upperclassmen and graduates we aim to make Downingtown High School proud of us. By Janet Laird. Page Thirty-two THE CUCECC Freshman Qlass History THE Freshman Class is made up of a hundred members. A large percentage of these pupils completed their eighth grade work in Downingtown while the remaining members came to us from the outlying districts of Cain, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, East and West Bradford and West Whiteland. The Freshman Class was thoroughly initiated by the more advanced students in the high school at the annual Doggie Roast held early in September. This class is not allowed to organize or select any officers during the first year. The class occupies two home-rooms; the girls are assembled in Room 9 under Miss Bentley and the boys in Room 14 under Mr. Reist. The Freshmen are well represented in all of the school activities such as music, art and athletics. Their scholastic attainments are equal to those of the other classes. This promises to be a class of which Downington High School will be very proud. Page Thirty-three THE CUCHCC Eighth Cjrade THE Eighth Grade of Downingtown Public School how has eighty-two scholars enrolled. There are forty-one girls and forty-one boys.
