It consists ot one semester ot study including trattic laws, causes ot acci- dents, care and use ot automobile, tirst aid, and actual behind the wheel training. It is a required course, usually in the sophomore year. Officers of the city's traffic division often visit 'I to give practical advice on I how to avoid tickets for violation Ot traffic laws. English X is chiefly grammar, spelling, and the mechanics of expression, with an introduc- tion to Shakespeare and other literature, Eng- lish Xl is principally American literature, and English Xll is principally world literature. Electives, not permitted to be substituted for the required courses, include speech, drama, and journalism. Drama students stage two prin- cipal productions, the fall play and the spring play, as well as a night of one-act plays and a night ot dramatic readings. Journalism classes produce the school newspaper and this year book.
