The department has eight teachers who conduct classes in typing, use ot business machines, business law, bookkeeping, shorthand, secretarial practice, cler- ical practice, economics and business English. Each day approximately 45 per cent of the student body attends a class in the business department. Typ- ing is open to all students in the beginning sections, complete fundamentals ot Gregg shorthand and tran- scription are taught to develop skill for business use, secretarial practice correlates the general office skills, bookkeeping obiectives are to equip the student with a working knowledge ot the basic principles ot ac- counting that will be useful in later lite, business machines include calculators, adding machines, liquid and ink duplicators, and many others, business law helps to develop an awareness ot legal points which attect people in their business relations, and business English stresses the fundamentals ot grammar, punc- tuation, and spelling, as well as the forms of business letters and reports. v -M1-----z- .
