They deal with students' special needs A very busy part of Downey High is the attendance office, headed by Mr. Clarence Bacha. He is the super- visor of child welfare and attendance, which includes the control of tardiness and irregular attendance situa- tions. Mr. Bacha's office issues work permits, and checks them at regular intervals. He writes the reports for the juvenile index, and works on the personal case studies of individual students. The responsibilities of the attendance office are great, as the receipt of state funds on the basis of average daily attendance depends on the work of his office. Aiding Mr. Bacha in these duties are two regular clerical staff members, Mrs. Mary E. Allard and Mrs. Eleanor Weatherford, in addition to student helpers. MR.
