Some experiences will be permanenT and enduring, oThers may be only a Thrill of The momenT and soon TorgoTTen. The T964 Volsung, by means oT prinT and phoTograph, has capTured and reTained Tor us valuable impressions oT our Triends, Teachers, and classmaTes, and provides a quick glimpse of our good Times, hardships, and successes. help shape The yearly course I ASST. PRINCIPAL STAN ROSS The person To whom The girls of Downey High owe Thanks is Miss Helen Hall, who holds The posiTion of vice principal. Miss Hall works direcTly wi-Th The Girls' League, and in The organizaTion of The clerical and sTudenT help in The offices. She has TaiThTulIy served The girls of Downey in dealing wiTh Their personal and behavior problems. She also works wiTh The supervision of class acTiviTies. This school year saw a change in The TiTles of some adminisTraTive posiTions: The dean of girls was changed To vice principal, The vice principal became assisTanT principal, and The acTiviTies direcTor was changed To adviser of sTudenT aTTairs. The assisTanT principal, Mr. STan Ross, works closely wiTh Principal Warren. His duTies include The super vision of sTudenT conTrol and all disciplinary acTions Mr. Ross handles The acTiviTy supervision, aThleTic programming, The school's planT and The work orders He supervises The duTy assEgnmenTs of Teachers MISS HELEN HALL Vice Principal Social acTiviTies and oTher exTra-curricular aTTairs ' MR. ARDEN HIRSCHI Adviser, Sfudent Affairs are a large parT oT The life of a school. Mr, Arden Hirschi, aTTer years in The physical educaTion deparT- menT, became The adviser of sTudenT affairs This year. In This capaciTy he is responsible Tor much of The sTudenT acTiviTy program, including sTudenT govern- menT, and also The on-campus clubs and Their advisers. He is responsible for The school calendar and The daily bulleTins. One of his big proiecTs This year was The sale of mixed nuTs To raise Tunols To buy new uniforms for The Viking Band.
