e wheels of government turn N DALLAS MOON DAVE SEWELL JILL HORSLEY Senior Pres. Junior Pres. Soph Pres, Hail to Downey's Vikings! This year, in my opinion, has been one of Downey's most prosperous. However, at the first of the year things didn't look so bright. Our campus was halfway between mud, cow pasture, and a lumber yard. We had about 2,000 students running pell-mell, this way and that, not knowing which way to go, since the buildings were all re-lettered. Our CIF football team of the previous year was gone, and we were rated only third in Coast League. Things looked black, indeed. Then, as the year wore on, we could feel that we were going uphill--Vikings on the march-- and our campus began to look like a new school.- The student body became loyal Vikings, we showed that we were proud by supporting our fabulous football team through ups and downs, and finally to a CIF championship in a game nobody thought we could win. As a school, Downey has come through A-I, but actually DSHS would be nothing at all, but for our fine student body. Your co-operation with the Student Council, support of our activities, and general good Viking conduct have made this one ofthe finest in our history, and my being your ASB President has been one of the greatest BERT DUMARS Vice President , pleasures and honors I have ever had. I would like to thank and congratulate both the Student Body and the first semester Council for making DSHS the BEST high school for I957-58 Respectfully, BOB SHEETS, ASB President, First Semester SUSAN ABBOTT LINDA GILES Social Activities Recording Secretary BCB SHEETS ASB President GAIL CLARKE TAMARA HALL Treasurer Corresponding Secretary NEIL MALMBERG Chief Justice LANNIE BERRETT Girls' President ' W1 . ,saga ' if . .522 V, I 2.5. , ,fn A X: 1. .,., . . ..
