HARRY' AND HAROLD This year we have been fortunate in having such two outstanding student body presidents as Harry Gifford and Harold Montgomery. Harry, first semester prexy, wielded the gavel in earnest and by the end of the first semester had sponsored a School Parade in which all the students partici- pated, resultino in the sale of S45,5l7 of war bonds and stamps for the Sixth War Loan Drive. X The second semester proved to be a busy one for Monty. He filled the iob well and completed the year with dignity. His services concluded a successful and event- ful school year. Qur Government Actual practice in the democratic form of government is experienced in the Student Council, which consists of representatives of classes, some organizations, and the publica- tions. Decisions on important matters concerning the welfare of the student body and their affairs are pondered on by this group in assembled session. During their past years in high school they have proved themselves worthy of responsibilities which will fall to them in the years to follow. While preparing for tomorrow, the seniors have been enjoying today by such things as Ditch day, Rube's day and the senior play. Ditch day was the first activity in which the class as a whole participated. The day at Griffith Park. included everything from horseback riding to dodging the spitting chimpanzee. This yeargthe annual senior play was Louisa May Alcott's famed Little Women which was presented at two successful performances, May 3 and 4. , Rubes day was another event which will remain in the hearts of both graduates and underclassmen long after the class of '45 has joined the passing parade. To prove that the seniors have other abilities as well as those along scholastic lines, one need only remember the dance they sponsored May 18, or the Senior Talent assemblyl As the year rolled around to that certain time in june, plans for Baccalaureate, Senior Tea, and Commencement started taking shape. Finis was signed to a never-forgotten high school career at Commencement exercises june 14. So into yesterday step the seniors who today are looking forward to tomorrow. -l-hose Leading the Seniors
