General Quarters Damage Control Damage Control and General Quarters were integral and everyday elements of the Frigate from hell ' s 1990 Deployment. Averag- ing at least two GQ ' s per week, we prepared for all types of battle and damage conditions. Some drill examples were Missile Hits that in- duced fire and flooding. Major machinery space Fire drills and Chemical Warfare attacks (which was an especially relevant topic consid- ering the Persian Gulf Crisis). Then, of course, there was the fantastic DC Olympics. The people who led GQ ' s and flying squad drills were the HT ' s and DC men, but the crew was always involved. Captain Pine made Dam- age control a top priority during deployment, and the DOWNES crew responded, insuring that any situation could be handled! Senior member of the Omega Team

Boat Ops The Frigate From Hell has two boats. The Motor whaleboat and the Cap- tain ' s Gig are diesel powered craft that perform a variety of functions, such as man overboard rescue, swimcall patrol, mooring to a buoy and, on occasion, fish call. One of the most important abilities of the motorwhale boat is to act as a fireboat in a rescue and assistance operation.
