AIR DET HSL-33 Detachment Five is an integral part of the USS DOWNES (FF 1070). Detached from their homeport of San Diego. The SH-2F Seasnake 13 provides extended ranges for the ship. The helicopter and her crew operate around the clock readily prepared to launch the aircraft in 15 minutes notice. The H-2 is considered the jack of all trades with missions that include: ASW, OTHT, logistics, SAR, vertrep and medevacs. In conjunction with the Frig- ate From Hell theme, the detachment named themselves HELLS BELLES and their motto is DIRTY DEEDS DONE CHEAP. The DOWNES is very proud of their Air Asset. . . cause lord knows, they couldn ' t have done it without them.
