There were smiles and some tears - the completion of 4 years also meant the parting of friends. After speeches, singing, and the presenta- tion ofthe class gift, the big moment came - the granting of diplomas, Following this, it was a joyful scene as everyone rushed onto the football field for pictures and congratulations. thirty-seven

Gives in return a wonderous yearn of a promise almost seen Live hand in hand and together we'Il stand On the Threshold of a Dream. thirty-six 1972 Prom Cn The Threshold Of A Dream After months of planning, the evening of the l972 Prom, June 6, finally became a real- ity. Couples enjoyed a delicious dinner and danced in the ballroom of the Oakbrook Sheraton. At one o'clock, the music faded away and everyone left for parties and post- prom trips.

The Great Halls of South The l972 Festival of the Arts, held May 20, was based on a Chinese theme. The walls contained displays of all sorts of student art work. Paintings and ceramics and sculptures were displayed and demonstrated by art students. The Industrial Arts Department had exhibits of various projects. Music, Russian dancing, and refreshments were enjoyed in the Senior Lounge. A multi-media slide show and a Bluegrass concert were held in the Little Theater. This was said to be the best Festival of Arts held at South, yet. Rich Dobson and Irene Phee take a closer look at a picture. Vt' ...... R ifiy fe, Vistors were greeted by these smiling faces.
