jazz We can be very proud of the Downers South Jazz Band, one of the best jazz bands in the Midwest. Under the direction of Mr. Randall Janousek, the students who qualify by audi- tions are assigned to the A band, where they concentrate on perfecting the skills they will need if they intend to pursue their studies of JAZZ BAND A- Front Row: B. l-loffa, R. Concert Band Concert Band, a group macle up of approxi- mately sixty music students, rehearsed daily in preparation for its various concerts. Under the direction of Mr. Randall Janousek, the band worked on marching drills in addition to playing and sightreading skills. Symphonic Band The Symphonic Bond is a select group of about eighty musicians. Under the direction of Mr. Alan Roselieb, the band concentrates on perfecting pieces for its numerous concerts, including evening performances at the school and a Christmas program at Yorktown. The band participated in several contests and three of its members, Sherri Vojslavek, Tom Titchener, and Mike Kikta were selected to attend the IMEA State Convention. SYMPHONIC BAND - Front Row: G.
