is. Dr. Neumann tries to ma ke it perfectly clear . President - Principle Board members: Dr. Neumann, R, Anderson, T. Kikta, B. Armaroli, J. Cohen, N. McGuckin, R. Dobson. The New Student Government A school and the students within are constantly changing. And because of this, it was felt that student representation at South should change with them. So this year marked the beginning of the new Student Government. lt was basically formed with the hope of achieving greater student adminis- trative communication through the President-Prin- ciple Board and the establishment of several specif- ic committees, manned by both faculty and inter- ested students. The President-Principle Board acted as the major advisory council of the government. Consisting of Dr. Neumann, President Margie Schleyer and six- teen elected students ffour from each classl, the board discussed many aspects of the school, including topics ranging from student apathy to South's image in the community. Among the activities carried through by the new board was the organization and presentation ofthe l972 Homecoming Coronation and the conducting of the mock Presidential Elections in November. By opening the student government to the entire student body, many interested students who were never before involved in the old student council became active in the newly formed committees. Disciplinary problems, environmental problems and student orientation to high school, as well as a wide variety of topics concerning our school were exam- ined and in many cases plausible solutions came about. All in all, the new form of student government is thought to be quite successful. And, of course, it is hoped that next year will prove to be even better for student involvement and representation at South. fu
