Returning Golfers Look To Third Championship The D.P.V.L. championship has been cap- tured by the Downers Grove South golf team for the past two years. With four returning members of last year's team, Coach Mullins and the team have hopes of winning this year's title. The four returning golfers who did not lose a match last year are Jim Ramage, Dave Beck, Al l-lawksley, and Dave Ericson - all seniors. Young Team Has l-ligh Hopes This year, the Downers Grove South Frosh- Soph Tennis team hopes to maintain or improve upon their second place finish in the D.P.V.L.. Two members of last year's fine team will return along with some good freshman prospects. The team's new coach is Mr. Charles Clapper. Last year's varsity tennis team was a young team, with one freshman and three sopho- mores. With the able coaching of Mr. Vincent Pelletier and the needed practice and experi- ence, the team hopes to capture their fourth D.P.V.L. championship. VARSITY TENNIS- Front Row: K. Spix, J. Ruff, C. Stelngraber s incredible endurance enables him to outkick the field, Trackmen Build for a Super '74 Calisthenics, hurdler's stretches, wind sprints - at least three weeks of torturous preparation down in that hot, muggy, stench- filled dungeon before the season even starts? Any trackrnan surviving this initial trauma will no doubt be able to suffer through any- thing the outdoor season can come up with, ranging from freezing rain on muddy cinders to agonizing foot blisters from llOO rub- berized asphalt. This year Downers had its usual massive frosh-soph turnout. The varsity was not quite as fortunate, but great promise is shown for next year because of this years junior crop which shattered ten school records as l972's super sophs.
