Selected LEADERS experienced a segment of the teacher's world as they provided assist- ance to the Physical Education Department with varied class procedures. After one year of training by Miss Sandra Rasmussen and Mr. James Stahl, final selection of junior and senior boys and girls was made on the basis of character, attitude and leadership ability. These students worked with instructors and other students by demonstrating exercises, coaching and refereeing sports, and caring for equipment. Engstrom. for Smooth Routine Members of SERVICE CLUB, supervised by Mr. James Freese, and GUIDANCE SER- VICE, sponsored by Mr. Leon Pogue, do- nated class time to help with secretarial and messenger details. Delivering messages, as- sisting in filing, and mailing and programming changes gave club members experience in office work. Service to students in the IMC was the main goal of the LIBRARY AIDS. Shelving books and manning checkout desks were some of the duties Library Aids performed to help with the efficient running of the IMC. Spon- sored by Mrs. Joan Wilson, the members ex- tended their help further by giving a party for the mentally retarded at Farm Club in December. Entertainment and fun concluded their year with an annual awards party. The skill of AUDIO-VISUAL-AIDS mem- bers provided constant relief for teachers in film and tape distress. Under the direction of Mr. J. J. Horwath, members acquired valuable skills in photograph processing and the production of various audio visual ma- terials. Helping hands and open doors greeted audi- ences at school and community events. The Ushers were better known as members of PRO BONO PUBLICO. This service club, sponsored by Mr. Alan Hutchison, besides providing the assistance of ushers, presented an award to an Outstanding Senior. Simiko Itoh and Hakan Litsegund gave DGN students a glimpse of the lives of students from other countries. AFS CLUB under the direction of Mr. Stephen Skinner, hosted foreign students and promoted AFS scholar- ship programs. Entertainment for all students was provided at the AFS variety show to raise money for exchange students' travel expenses.
