foreign languages Emphasize Continuity Under the guidance of Mr. Fredric Moore, the FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPART- MENT offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses in French. Spanish. Ger- man, and Latin. A new program schedules students with the same language teacher for four years; such a continuity of instruction enables students to achieve a broader com- prehension of his chosen language. The classroom itself provides many op- portunities to perfect linguistic abilities through the use of tapes, portable recorders, and records. A further aid to learning is the language laboratory, where students learn pronunciation by listening to tapes recorded by French. German, and Spanish-speaking people. GENEVIEVE B. The depart- ment's program is geared to the needs of today's students; courses are offered which challenge the mathematical ability of all students. Calculus, a college-level course, is offered to superior students. Team-teaching was initiated last year in order to make classes more interesting. The department has evaluated this program, and this evaluation has led to continuation of the program. Several overhead projectors and geo- metric models have been acquired by the department for general class use. This equip- ment provides excellent supplements to the texts.
