Mrs. Judith Carilhcrs discusses modern novels with her junior English class. english Stresses Diversity of Interests English study, once approached from a strictly formal standpoint, has been revised to encourage student pursuit of broad, flex- ible fields of interest. This is accomplished through the introduction of supplementary paper-back b x ks and independent study projects. Skills-improvement, college pre- paratory. and honors classes enable students to pursue courses of study suited to varying objectives and academic capabilities. Special elective courses in debate, journalism, and speech develop related skills in specific in- terest areas. Directed by Mrs. Margarete Cant rail, the department is constantly improving and broadening the program of learning to better prepare young people for success in college and the professions.
