M.A. 3 years 14 years Keeping paee wilh modern education, the GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT, under ihe authority of Mr. Leon Pogue, made several changes during the 1967-68 academic year. Distribution of students assigned to coun- selors was altered so that both the boys and girls of each class, with the exception of seniors, often had the same counselor. With- in this personal advisory system, counselors acquaint college-bound students with the colleges and universities of their choice, and provide students with a variety of vo- cational information. In addition to counseling, the Guidance Department administers aptitude, achieve- ment. and placement examinations and plans supplementary programs, including Career Day and College Night. principal Directs a Modern School Mr. Herbert L. Adams completed his first year as PRINCIPAL of Downers Grove North, after having served for twenty-six years as a teacher and Assistant Principal. He is directing the high school with pro- fessional skill and diplomacy without losing touch with the realities of student life. Al- ways willing to lend his time and advice to individuals, Mr. Adams heads an efficient, harmonious administration. The principal is aided in his role as high-school director by three assistants: Mr. Larry Bowers, Assistant Principal: Mr. Steven Skinner, Director of Student Per- sonnel; and Mr. James Freese, Coordinator of Student Affairs.
