ELML1NGER Assistant Superintendent for Instruction I . of Nebraska. Ed.D. 10 years Dr. Glenn Piekrel. School supcriniendenl for districts 99 and 58, is in charge of school administration and is fhe chief executive chosen to carry out the Board's policies. Dr. Piekrel is responsible for construction of new buildings, the budget, maintenance, personnel, and instructional programs. Dr. Pickrel’s staff consists of three as- sistant superintendents and an administrative assistant. Dr. Donald Black interviews prospective teachers and recommends applicants who are qualified. Dr. Charles Elmlinger is in charge of curriculum. Newly appointed Mr. Frank Ibbotson handles fin- ancial transactions. Mr. Gregg Rybinski helps Dr. Piekrel in the maintenance of the schools and in the general operation of the organization. This is the second year Mr. William Landis. This year's Board president. Mr. Mauritz Gahlon. and the other members of the Board render a valuable service in pro- viding the high quality of education for which Downers Grove has become known. The P.T.A.. led by the president. Leonard Goodman, links the school with the com- munity and establishes communication be- tween the two. This year the P.T.A. held two meetings to deal with current social problems, in addition to the regularly scheduled programs of traditional freshman parent orientation, student career night, and open house. principal Directs a Modern School Mr. Herbert L. Adams completed his first year as PRINCIPAL of Downers Grove North, after having served for twenty-six years as a teacher and Assistant Principal. He is directing the high school with pro- fessional skill and diplomacy without losing touch with the realities of student life. Al- ways willing to lend his time and advice to individuals, Mr. Adams heads an efficient, harmonious administration. The principal is aided in his role as high-school director by three assistants: Mr. Larry Bowers, Assistant Principal: Mr. Steven Skinner, Director of Student Per- sonnel; and Mr. James Freese, Coordinator of Student Affairs.
