Yanke Northwestern, B.S. 1 year Through teaching physical skills, proper health habits anti good sportsmanship, the PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT stresses healthful living. “Youth Fitness Tests” are administered each year to measure the student’s national percentile rank in such skills as sit-ups, pull-ups, and the 50 yard dash, broad jump, and softball throw. All freshmen students are enrolled in a six weeks’ HEALTH course offered in conjunction with the P.E. department. During the sophomore year, students are pro- vided with four weeks of classroom study in driv- er’s training, followed by Drivotrainer instruction and behind the wheel road training. Juniors receive instruction in first aid skill, while seniors are offered a marriage class in order to prepare them for their future roles as husbands and wives.
