P. T. A. Seated left to right: Miss Lola M. Hunting, Secretary; Mr. Robert B. Konikow, President; Mrs. Michael F. Stem. 2nd Vice President. Standing: Mrs. Nor- ton E. Saxton, Treasurer: Mr. Scott Lorimor. 1st Vice Presi- dent. As a theme for its twenty-fifth year, the High School Paront- Teachers Association chose: Prepare today for a better tomorrow through education. This theme was carried out through various pro- grams, including open house, panel discussions, guest speeches, and joint meetings with other Downers Grove P. T. A. groups. Each of the five meetings was successful in helping to broaden public knowledge and understanding of education. Emphasis was placed on fitting the local educational program to the needs and talents of youth and urging parents to visit school to see what is being done today to prepare for a better tomorrow. OFFICE STAFF Mechanization has become the byword of the Office Staff this year, as everything from program slips to report cards has been changed from hand written to machine typed material. Several staff members have taken specialized courses in the operation of the new machines and their effective use in school business. However, much unmechan- ized routine still remains: phone calls are answered, forgotten lunches returned, missing books recovered, and unending questions answered. Using the most modern methods available, the office staff keeps busy in aiding both students and faculty and in making the high school a smooth-running, business-like organization. Sitting: Mrs. Pat Olson; Mrs. Margaret Pros: Standing: Mrs. Elma Pence: Mrs. Geraldine Thompson; Mrs. Ruth Keast; Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon.
