Because nearly every DGHS student has taken advantage of the courses offered in band, orches- tra, chorus, and arts and crafts, this department is also an active one in extra-curricular activities. Its aim is to provide a well-rounded back- ground in the culture and appreciation of art and music, as well as teaching the techniques and skills of these subjects. 19

Courses in the practical arts provide experi- ence for the draftsmen, carpenters, printers, and homemakers of the future. It's really very simple.
