Sophomores and juniors are under the tralchful eye of the popular AIr. Adams, that eminent philosopher, teacher, and poet. Working out such problems as tardiness and low grades are only a few of his services. I his counselor, who is a friend to all. has been a former basketball coach and hall Festival chairman, along with all his other activities. Many beneficial services hare hern rendered the school by this organization. I his year they again sponsored I uberculosis X Rays for the stu dents and held their largest annual Open I louse, enabling parents to meet the teachers informally. In their March meeting they ac ted as hosts Io the eighth grade parents, acquainting them with their children s future curriculum. I oothachey lleadache? Sore linger f No matter what aches and pains students might hare. Miss Myrna Reel:, the school nurse, or any one of her able student assistants are always ready to lend a hand in 201. the clinic. I laiulling student health cards and Ireatifig the common ailments ttf the faculty anrl students are the main duties of the clinics stall. As enrollment in the school increased and an addition mas Iniill. mitre help mas employed to do the extra work. Sweeping and mashing the floors, dusting, washing windows, opening and fixing lockers. and performing numerous other jolts inside the school lea re this bn sy stall little free time. Outside the building they mom the lawns, trim hedges, clear the sidewalks in winter, and do many other jobs that belli to make our campus one of the best. I o Sir l.ererenz anil his staff me extend our sincere appreciation for keeping the school in lip top shape. As your eyes travel across the lunch counter, they meet the smiling faces of our cafeteria ladies who are always ready to oblige the hungry de- mands of the student body. I lie cafeteria also has had its share of inno- vations this year. I he increasing number of stu dents necessitated another lunch period making o total of fire lunch periods. 'or the first lime a turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served for I hanksgiving. Ihe stall hot lunch program has introduced two com plete plate lunches. I he student, therefore, has a choice of carbohydrates, and vitamins needed for a icell balanced meal. I he senior play u as (ficen in the fall in order to relieve the crowded sprinp schedule of the seniors. I ryouts were held early in September and rehearsals be pan immediately under the direction of Miss Bar bara Dobben. I he play is the story of ('tinny Allen, a former star on a piiz propram, ivlut moved to a new town in her senior year of hipli school. She tried to conceal her brains for she fell that if the boys found out about her inlellipence. they mipht not dale her. Although hindered early in the fall by the unfortunate illness of the director. Mr. Win. G. Poldtnann. the choir came through with flying colors, due to the capable efforts of the substitute. Mr. Wrn. Copeland. I he choir made its first public appearance of the year at the Armistice Day assembly, and then, a feat days later, sang Into selections in the Car nival. In the traditional Christmas Program. Cappella again joined all of the musical groups of the school. ( )ne evening, daring the ( hrislmas vacation, the choir went caroling at AIr. After the C hrislmas Program, the choir worked diligently on the songs for the Spring 'estival, a musical program in which all ol the schools of the conference participate. Weather permitting. arch- ery and tennis practice was held twice a week. In the winter Sherron I'rancis freshman team won the bonding title. Other winter activi- ties were basketball and volleyball. I he double- elimination basketball tournament was won by Ailecn Pelinsky s senior team. A double elim inalion volleyball tournament was held after spring vacation. The spring sports program inebnh’d tennis and archery. Initiation of new members was held on I’ebruary 21 and approximately 16 girls were given membership pins after an informal and formal ceremony.
