must check to sec that both school and extra curr1cular act1v1t1es are carr1ed on ID an orderly manner He saves h1s OK to such thnws as dances, club meennvs, sports, plays etc Then, too, there are n1ght school and veterans classes TIHHSPOFIHIIOII for our rural students 1S another problem of Charhe s for he must keep the buses and statlon wagons on schedule He a1ds the bus dr1vers 111 mappmg out the best routes And when our teams are play1ng away from home he sees that a bus IS ready for them He IS also a membe1 of the School Board and reprcsents the teachers at 1ts meetnws Recently Mr Canfield made a tr1p to Atlantlc C 1ty to lttend a meetlnsr of the Bdllfblhll Assm c1at1o11 of Supenntendents there, for he IS constantly str1v111g to help us 1mprove D H S Gertrude B1ek IS Mr Q,l1llf:1Cld s capable a11d competent sec retary She has manv dut1es 1nclud1ng SOI'l11llg ma1l, keeplng records, a11d wr1t1ng letters and checks In add1t1on to these da1ly tasks she makes out teachers hurg of ldiard Darla, manor lhbbs Ed Sk1pper Dorvan has been one of Dowag1ac H1gh Schools best assets for twenty fave years E1ghteen of these years were devoted to teachmg chem1stry and some sc1ence Then he was promoted to the rob of pr1nc1pal Its not easy work, but Sk1pper has come through w1th flymg colors On the first dav of school Sk1pper was ready to lnform us about our homerooms and tt d1sh out the rules and regulat1ons for the comlnsf school year The first few days of school are probably the hardest for he has to help 1n the rearrangmg of schedules and get the freshmen off to a good start Sk1p IS 1 very sought after fellow because h1s s1gnature 1S needed on the absentee and tardy sl1ps before the perso11 1n quest1on can return to hIS classes He also has to be a good detect1ve to track down forged pass sl1ps As a substltute teacher Sk1pper rates h1gh for he has a grand se11se of humor H15 study hall IS very pleasant because ll seems as 1f he IS always ready w1th a humorous story the purpose of wh1ch 1S to calm the constant buzz But everv once 1n a yy h1le We fand the trouble makers spendmg some much re gretted t1me after school Frlendly adv1ce 'mans anyone who needs lt and that 1n cludes almost all of us from the loyxlv freshman to the self as sured SCIHOYS It IS Sk1p who has the last look at the appllca t1ons of the lucky SCUIOFS who plan on another four years of
