As Sophomores, the most ex- citing thing that happened was serv- ing at the Junior-Senior Banquet. We will all remember our geom- etry class with Coach Kloevver, too. ln our Junior year We had fun selling m a g a z i n e subscriptions around town. The money We made was used for the Junior-Senior Ban- quet. The theme was ln Apple Blossom Time , Many of us also participated in the presentation of our class play, Aaron Slick from Pumpkin Creek . Another big event in our Junior year was Winning the Boyer Valley Conference Football Trophy. We began our Senior year with great anticipation of graduation. ln- itiating the freshmen was fun this year, as we were the ones doing the initiating. Another exciting event was breaking the 49-game losing streak for the girls basketball team. We will always be remembered as the Graduates of l966 . Remember way back, Juniors, when we were seventh graders? We were all pretty excited about being in Junior- Hi and l'm sure none of us will ever forget Mrs. Brockman. We experienced our first try at basketball and we all had a riot at those skating parties-- even if we couldn't walk the day after- ward! Finally came eighth grade! We were now lord and masters of grade school. This was the year we really had a big part in homecoming--our float. Remember all the arguments and confusion and how could we ever forget our Science Fair? Thanks to Mr. Dorfler and Mrs. Kahl we had a very successful year and eagerly looked forward to high school. ln the fall of 1963 we--heads held high--walked up that extra flight of stairs to that long awaited place-- high school. But soon we found it wasn't all fun. The work was lots harder and those tests were really something else, right, kids? We were also dis- illusioned by the gory tales we heard Freshman initiation. But, in spite of sore backs and dirty knees received from bowing to those royal seniors, we all had a wonderful time at the dance held in our honor. Our sophomore year we were ex- perienced high school students and we could now look down on someone--the freshmen. Remember that thrilling class, biology? And although most of us could not go to the Junior-Senior Prom, some of us got to serve. And now we are enjoying the im- portance of being upperclassmen. Some of us got to participate in the class play and ,after an endless wait our class rings finally camel We can now look forward to our prom and to being seniors of D-C-A next year. Remember all the fun we had at those skating parties! ln the seventh grade the boys were not afraid to skate or dance. Too bad we still are not in seventh grade. Our eighth grade year started off with a bang when the Arion students were introduced to the Dow City students. Of course We awaited more skating parties, until Mrs. Wingrove, the seventh grade teacher, received an injury on the back of her leg by a bar window covering. While Mrs. Wingrove was recovering, Mr. Butterworth took her place for six months. The students did not care to have any more skating parties after Mrs. Wingrove's accident. Mr. Dorfler, the eighth grade teacher and coach, tried to make better students and basketball players out of us. entering high school, But we all marched in and took our seats with the older students. We all studied hard because we were worried what would happen to us if we did not. We attended dances and other activities and usually had lenty of fun. Some of Mr. Dorfler's hardriworking eighth graders started to play high school basketball. We were really glad when the Freshman. ln- itiation Dance was over because now the seniors could not pick on us any- more, at least not too much! As sophomores we are all getting a bit braver and a bit smarter. We looked forward to the Freshman ln- itiation Dance because now we could all sit back and watch the fun. We all have two years of high school left in which to have fun and to get better grades. l am sure everyone is looking forward to owning their own class rings next year. I wonder who will be the first to give their ring away. We were all a little scared but soon every- one knew everyone else and all were friends. As all good pupils do, we eagerly learned to read and count. lt wasn't until second grade that we became acquainted with music and learned to write. Later, homework was part of our evening schedule. Fifth grade was about the best of all. We broke in Miss Comstock, who was just out of college. We liked her and-she must have liked us, too, because she invited us to her wedding in May. After going through several teach- ers in sixth grade and two in seventh, we finally reached eighth grade. Our class increased in size by ten when the Arion pupils joined us. This was the year that our fun began with skating parties and dances. Although onlyafew got up the courage to ask someone else to skate or dance, almost every- one had fun. Hardly anyone ever left the skating party without a bump or bruise. And don't forget basketball! We didn't win any games, but we did try, didn't we'?!! Everyone, we are happy to say, made it to high school. Now, we are freshmen. Of course, everyone was scared of initiation!! But, it turned out that the seniors wer'en't 'quite as mean as we had anticipated. We all had a real nice time at the dance which the seniors gave in our honor. But, now we're in the full swing of things. Everyone is quite busy with theirstudies and activities. We are looking forward to our last three years of high school, hoping they will be as enjoyable as this year has been. 26 , Steve Argotsinger Clara Behrendt Lynn Bielfeldt Terry Brasel Beth Bremser Linda Detlefsen Tim Ettleman Randy Feser Mike Fouts Kathleen Garrett Jerry Gehl B111 Gehl Charles Gordon Micky Gordon David Heistand Donald Kahl David Keiner Susan Kessell Lorraine Kline Myrna Kolln Bonnie Laubscher EveVonne Laubscher Ronald Lynch Robert Muff X 'V' Alan Rood Cathy Sharp Deborah Simon Joyce TenEyck Charles Thompsen Victor Thompsen N ,X be A 4 4 Richard Muff Sandra Olson Cheryl Popp J ay Wilxgrove Harry endt . . .
