DEDICATION The seniors of 1958 take pride in dedicat- ing this book to the citizens of Dover community who have made it possible for us to have a high school, and to Mr. A. J. Bassett, our principal, who with unflagging interest has guided Dover High School from its modest beginnings to its present growth. It has perhaps never occurred to the pupils who enjoy its advantages today, that at one time not so long ago, there was no Dover High School. And yet, as we look back upon its brief history, we are amazed at the rapid strides the school has made. A Just eighteen years ago, a group of public spirited members of our community, who, fortun- etely for us, were able to look toward a future for the youth of the community, set out with a determination to orrenize a high school in this district. As a result of their efforts a high school vas organized, and with an enrollment of sixteen pupils and one teacher, Mr. Bassett, classes were begun in the building of the Congre- gational church. The first high school board was composed of Dr. Bradley, Mr. Frank Kemble, and Mrs. A. J. Bassett. At the first regular election, Mr. Charles Todd, Mr. Joe Tomson, and Mr. Claude Ross were elected as the permanent board. Mr. Todd served as director until 1953, when Mr. lf' 'rs fs lisemfn took his place. Nr. Ross served os clerk until 1936, when he was replrced by Mr. J. W. Butner. Mr. Tomson was treasurer until 1928, when he was succeeded by Mr. Kemble for three years. Mr. ' Bassett then served one year and resignedg Mr. Ray Firestone served for four years and upon his resignation in March, Mr. Woody was appoint- ed until the regular election in May, when Mr. T. J. Logan, our present clerk, was elected. V W by V ll I 'i:W:'hNNfWf GQQQQQQ
