Junior candidates for the National Honor Society are inducted into the group during a ceremony in June of the school year. The National Honor Society consists of selected students who must have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher. Candidates must also possess good character and leadership abilities. The National Honor Society hosts the annual blood drive at our school for the Red Cross. Students must be 17 years of age to donate blood. The Society also sells daffodils to raise money for the American Cancer Society. (At right is a list of seniors selected to NHS as juniors.) ©MIT On November 11, 1986, the students at Dover High School had an opportunity to choose twenty seniors, ten boys and ten girls, to become Homecoming King and Queen. After the votes were calculated and the top ten boys and girls were announced, the senior class voted for five male candidates and five female candidates. The five girls and five boys receiving the highest amount of votes were announced the following day. The King and Queen and their court were announced at the Mendham football game. The winners were: King and Queen — Tom Mayes and Melinda McKnight, First runners up — Chris Welsch and Kathy McClellan, Second runners up — Louis Gyarmati and Noel Baker, Third runners up — Swade Jones and Yolanda Santana, Fourth runners-up — Rey Rosario and Eva Drosos.
