ft ting psyched. The mere thought of future events created a surge of excitement within us. Everyone had heen preparing for THE week. This included making fantastic hall decorations, doing a little extra for all those great guys on the team and visiting our neighbors across the river. Naturally, we wanted something to remember them by. so many of us returned home with momentoes that once belonged to citizens of Phila. (Rumor has it that even after getting nailed, a carload of unfortunate patroits still sang the Alma Vlater all the wav to the Phila Police Station.) The week started as any other week would. Wednesday was Mourn Phila Day, the day on which all sympathetic students observe the misfortunes of the gridiron “geese.” Thursday was known to avid Quaker-Crunchers as Stomp Phila Day. A variety of foot attire was seen and heard stomping its way through the halls of DIES. The traditional Kick-Off Dinner was held that evening in the cafeteria. The snake dance to the stadium, led by the Marching Tornadoes and the cheerleaders, immediately followed the dinner. The rousing bonfire would mark the end of their journey. Friday was Red and Gray Day. During the 9th period, the Pep Band came swaggering through the halls to lead the way to our pep assembly. Crowds began to arrive hours before the game was scheduled to begin. When the gates were finally opened, fans rushed in, filling the stands. W e were rough and we were tough, hut not tough enough. The great expertise of the CC Champs was stunned by the struggling undersized and inexperienced Quaker team. We kept them on their toes and the best they could do was to sweat out a 7-7 tie. 12
