This confidence was due to the pleasant circumstance of having 24 lettermen returning—4 offensive starters and 7 defensive starters—and also, compounded by the facts that we had skill and enthusiasm. Expectations were fulfilled when we finished 9-1 and 9th ranked in Ohio. The seniors on this squad concluded a three year career in which they were involved in 23 victories and only 7 losses. This coaching staff considered it a real privilege to have been able to copch this hard working, dedicated group of seniors of this 1975 class. Now, the torch is passed to the next class along with tne understanding that they will have the 100% support, and legacy of all of the past Dover Football players. 133 FRESHMEN DOVER OPPONENTS 16 Orrville 14 0 Minerva 26 6 Wooster 12 0 New Phila 22 12 Cambridge 12 0 Claymont 24 6 Coschocton 0 JR. Three time state qualifier. Captain Larry Kuemerle. pinned every foe during the regular campaign to lead a strong, senior-laden contingent to that accomplishment as well as a conference runner-up, the Sectional Championship and a District Third. Larry, Kandy Moser, Kevin Peck, Tom Northrop, Gil Maize, John Freshwater and Scott Hammond downed the Crimson for the last time and will be sorely missed when Dover next takes the mat but don’t count the Tornadoes out just vet—toughness is continuity and continuity we've got. To accomplish this it was necessary to do just what we did—go undefeated. This history was made the 12th match of the season, a match against the Canton City champs. Canton McKinley, e rolled McKinley 36-21. This victory tied coach Mowrey with Clerence Eckert from Euclid High School. The tie was 233 wins to 233 wins. Coaches' record will he bettered as there was still two matches left in the season. The next match put the coach one over the goal as we pinned Phila 40-15. Then came one of our roughest matches, the Claymont match. In this match we were faced with injuries and sickness plus the fact that it was our last match of a so-far undefeated season. We pulled it through with a close 30-19 very big victory, and an undefeated season. Claymont was number 245, two wins over the old record. Coach Mowrey is now the “most winningist coach in Ohio. The coaches record is 245 wins, 25 losses and 2 ties. This record is the combination of two High School coaching positions. His first at Nordonia Hills where his record was 111-15-0. Here his record is 134-10-2. LARRY KUEMERLE The CUCUMBER” has gone the way of all Dovers Great 167-pounders. Kaderlys, Cudrudges and Con does—graduated, but his remarkable addition to the tradition will long be remembered: Dual meet record of 38-2-1, 33 pins, twice undefeated in regular season. Cardinal Conference Champion, three times Sectional Champion, three times District Champion, and three times state qualifier. Larry was team captain twice, most valuable player twice. El club espanol contributed in numbers, if nothing else, and the hot Mexican food was quite successful in giving everyone acute indigestion. In February, along with the advanced French and German students, Spanish fans travelled to Mount Union College in Alliance for a foreign language workshop, where they saw slides of foreign countries and learned a few dance steps. To top everything oif. this spring they plan to visit the Salvador Dali'Museum in Cleveland, i Adios! ROW I: Carmella Monaco, Steve Kondinella. Student Audio operators are at the sound controls for morning announcements, assemblies in the auditorium and all sports activities in the gymnasium. 170 MEDIA CENTER AIDS The Media Center Staff, headed h Mrs. Martha Blair, co-ordinates audio-visual material for Dover Jr. and Sr. High. In addition to a fine collection of film-strips, slides, records, etc., the center is the home of U DHS-TV. educational television is one of the newest and most important services of the center. ART CLUB The Art Club headed bv Pres. Tom Northrop, Vice Pres. Irene Pietro and Sec.-Treas. Beth Hefner, visited many interesting places throughout the year. On field trips to State and District shows as well as museums we were able to see fine work done by other students our own age. One of the finest shows we visited was the Columbus Go ernors show in w hich several members had entered work. Then in the spring we had our annual Art show. The show is always a highlight of the school vear and we feel it was a success. The members also displayed their work in the trophy case beside the library throughout the year. 172 SCIENCE CLUB Thin year the science club, led by Gus and the Doc, went on some very interesting excursions. One such trip was to Battclle Institute in Columbus. They arrived in time to take the 1 p.m. tour. The group was divided into 3 parts which visited various sections of the massive Battelle Institute. Some of the programs included these areas—Photography. Animation. Environmental Quality, and Metal and Creative projects. Afterward they reassembled and had a period in which their questions were answered by the tour guides. This activ ity was attended bv about 35 persons some of whom were from various science classes. 173 STUDENT COUNCILS Picture A: Junior High Student Council. At these meetings we had various speakers and demonstrations, and made plans for our two major dances, the Sweater Hop and the Winter Formal. Both proved to he a success. Although we ended our year with less attendance at our meetings, Tri-Hi-Y still proved to be worthwhile. Officers were—President, Cheryl Perry; Vice President, Margaret Pretorious; Secretary, Vicky Gerber; Treasurer, Mary Ann Prichard; and Chaplain. Heather Immel. 0 it Hi- y Under the leadership of advisor Jim Nixon, the senior Hi-Y' was again very active in school and community activities. The activities consisted of Sunday school services at the Tuscarawas County Infirmary every Sunday, Dads' night on the night of the Youngslow n East game which was also the homecoming game. Moms night which was the night of the Wooster basketball game; a Christmas party for the elderly was a big hit along with the starlight swims at the Y.M.C.A. Furthermore we took part in the Youth and Government program which was held in Columbus. This year's officers were: President, Jeff Pissocra; Vice President, Rick Kopeck; Secretary, Perry Petrullo; Treasurer, Mark Longer; Sergeant at Arms, Jeff Mills; and Chaplain, Ron Swigheimer. 203 FTA—FHA Picture A: Future Teacher of America were: HOW 1: Louise Sear , Julie f arther, Tom Netting, Pam Wikoff.
