Lord, let war's ternpests cease, Fold the Whole world in peace Under Thy Wings. -Henry W. Longfellow udiford rom Offer Ofana! Seven foreign students from International House, New York City, came to visit our Dover community in Ianuary through the co-operative efforts of civic and school groups and interest ed persons. One of these students, Mr. Srinivasan, left the following thoughts with us The purpose of true knowledge through education is to realize and under- stand the differences among peoples and to work for a method by which we can make this World a happy place in which to live. These thoughts have been nobly expressed by the great dreamer 'Tagore' in Gitanj ali in the following prayer, Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, Where knowledge is free, Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls, Where words corne out from the depth of truth, Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection, Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit, Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action- lnto that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. Each year two students are chosen by their classmates as representative senior boy and girl. On the basis ot leadership, citizenship, service, character, and personality, the class this year chose Carol Lembright and Paul Mitchell. Carol Lembright Carol, who is known to us as this year's effic- ient student council president, is in every respect a representative student. Her busy schedule in- cludes membership in Y-Teens, Future Teachers ot America, Orchestra, and Usher Club. ln her Iunior year, Carols outstanding record was recog- nized as she became a member of the National Honor Society. Also during her junior year, Carol was chosen to represent her class as a delegate to Buckeye Girls' State. Carol's attractiveness and pleasing personality have won the respect of all who know her. Paul cap- ably serves as this year's Hi-Y president and as a junior he led his classmates through a successful year as their president. Aside from these activi- ties, Paul still tinds time to participate on the foot- ball and track teams, serve as a member of the stage crew, and act as manager of the basketball team. Although Paul is very busy with these many activities, he still maintains a high grade average which won his membership in the Nation- al Honor Society. We, the class of 1955, would like to wish Carol and Paul success, as they continue to be repre- sentative in all they do. LL 11 -fqgr President ....................... Handy with a needle, she often em- ploys the old proverb, a stitch in time saves nine. Intramurals mean Work for Mrs. Herman because she stays long after school hours to help and comfort the girls after hard games. Our hat is off to you, Mrs. Herman, for a job well done. WMM wfbaid Although this is her first year, Miss Mu- iais has capably and conscientiously ac- cepted the role of girls athletic instructor. Many new ideas, such as exercises, per- sonal grooming, good posture, and a greater emphasis on team work, are being used in her gym classes. As advisor of the Leaders Club, Miss Mujais has helped leaders to revise their constitution and the intramural program.
