Keeping this purpose in mind the club with 43 active members had a busy year. Regular meetings were held with programs planned to in- formand help the members. Service projects undertaken were many and varied. The Dover club was represented on the I-li-Y--Tri-Hi-Y Council and the Older Girls' Conference Council. Through the participation ofits members in interscholastic debate and speech tournaments , many trophies and honors have been brought to Dover High. The seasonbegan in October with a speech clinic in Concord and ended with a state de- bate contest at Bates College. Other tourna- ments included an invitational debate tourna- ment at Dartmouth College, the state speech and debate contest at the University, practice tournaments at Laconia, South Portland, and Somersworth,and a speech elimination con- test at Dover. The club also took part in several student congresses. Activities for 1954-55 included such work as performing elementary experiments in chemistry and physics,examining aninals and insects under a microscope, and taking field trips to observe wildlife and other forms of nature. Movies and slides were shown and reports of individual experiments were given by club members at meetings. Places of scientific interest were visited and guest speakers gave talks on various phases of science. I T' ' PROJECTIO LUB The Projection Club aids the students and teachers of Dover High by promoting visual education. The members show movies, film strips, etc., explaining points of interest in different subjects. Films and service are also available for civic organizations. Although having one of the smallest mem- berships of any club in the high school, the Projection Club is one of the hardest working and most active organizations. A club of this type not only benefits the school but prepares its members for future employment. As a service to the community the F.H.A. members did cooking for the canteen at the Wentworth Hospital. Officers of the club participated in the state F.H.A. conference held at Keene Teachers' College in November. Stardust was the theme of the annual F.H.A. dance held in December.
