But during the time that he did play, his excellent team-work. Ted Payne fPercyD playing stationary guard was the bufwark of Dover's defense f Q handling two or three men as easily as one... Only Percy's opponents kvew how hard Q it was for them to enter Dover's defense, when Percy was determined that they . i should notl enter or score. His courageous spirTt, as well as excellent judgment, were i the determining factors in a great many of Dover's victories. Norma came ton Dover with a basketball . carreer that she Justly deserved :but her real basketball ability could not be realized . 1 until she became a member of the Dover Squad, P'aying as a regular forward Norma ! played true to her record as being one of the most accurate and unconquerable for- l wards that ever graced, a basketball court. Her effective team work in addition to I the speed that her -opponent often encountered kept all opposition in fear of the Q Dover Forwards. . Mabel Egleoton, Center. Mabel completed her second year as center with the pros- - i pects of two more successful years: of basketball. To Mabel, is due a great amount . of the credit for D'over's4 successful year of Basketball. Her never-give-up spirit Q served as a stinculent to her other team mates and was largely responsible for the l many victories that Dover secured during the latter part of the game which were I seemingxy defeats in the fore-part of the game. A 1 i a Q Phoebe Ray, Guard Phoebe completed her third year of basketball as guard play- i ing a strong defensive game throughout fthe season, proving herself to be the i greater part of Dover's defense always giving her forward the limpossible shots . and never allowing them to s'core a fiefd gold from short distance. a -- i l Ola Rilgley, Guard. Ola, with Phoebe as a team mate ..played a strong defen- l sive game, Ola's never-weaken-spirit was the determining factor in a great many of Q Dover's victories which characterized their strong comeback. i l Bessie Robinson. Bessie playeid the greater part of the time as guard and proved her- i sd f to be a player who was worthy of consideration, display1ing that type 'of Basket- f 'ball that is necessary to be a member of the Dover Squad. This is Bessie' s first ' ! ear of basketball and from indications she has a bright future for the years yet f . y aining l t rem ' . - Q -- s l Gladys Martin Side Center. Gladys played her fourth year with Dover as side con- A ter la in each ear with added vigor and a stronger determination that her team l 11 y g y - . ' shou'd wzin in spite of all opposition. Gladys's accurate passing and speed was a I i great factor in most of Dover's victories. ! Fern Robinson, Forward. Fern Uimmiej playing her first year of basketball, broke ! through :fl opposition and secured a place as a regular forward although handicapped l b her size. 'Pla ing a clean hard fought game was the kind Fern indulged in, al- . Ruth's playing was a type of basketball that always Q deserved the admiration of the spectators. Her clean playing and sportsmanship, i made her friends among her opponents as well as her team mates.
