Wrestlers Gain The Respect They Deserve Wrestlers proved to be fighting TRO- JANS throughout the I979-80 school year. Ending the season with a I2-3 record, Douglass demonstrated its de- termination to be on top. ln the All- City tournament, senior Eddie Rodri- quez. finished with the championship title, wrestling at I57 lbs. Winfred Cof- fee, weighing l78 lbs., came in second place. Taking third was Delance Robin- son, at I68 lbs. and at I3O lbs., Lester Lancaster. Douglass finished fourth behind other competing high schools. Wrestlers also participated in the Clin- ton tournament. Throughout each and every match the Trojans continued to show their determination and will to win. When in times of desperation, the support from fans, parents and Mat Maids seemed to shine through and bring the wrestlers to a victory. As in all sports there were losses. And those losses will be learned from. This team consisted of twenty one membersf each and every wrestler put his all in the winnings of this year. With the loss of five seniors, the remaining wres- tlers will continue to carry out the well deserved reputation of the teams as a whole, and to keep Douglass on top.
