They practiced several hours a day in hot temperatures to be ready for the opponents they had to face. Altogether there were twelve starters returning from last year's crop, head- ed by team captains Kerry Madden and Steve Johnson. The team is made up of mainly sen- iors although the sophomores and ju- niors will have their chance to lead the team to victories next year. The team found that their roughest rivalry was with Tulsa Washington where they lost O-62. At the end of the season they ended up winning three of their clashes, over Capital Hill 8-6, Star Spencer 20-I4, and Classen 6I-6. Al- though it ended up as a 3-6 season, the Trojan football team put in everything they had to bring out a spirited foot- ball year. Three of our teammates, Kerry Mad- den, Steve Johnson, and Don Shells were lucky enough to go to all-confer- ence. Don Shells managed to lead in scoring and rushing. Thomas Wright C255 attempts to tackle while Charles Paxton CSD charges in. Ron Shells C233 tackles Northeast's C225 while Winfred Coffee attempts to help. Terry King C663 won't stand for anyone to run Football

New Look The i979-80 edition of the Trojans saw new faces and new attitudes being introduced to Douglass High school. Two new coaches, Phil Ingersoll and Willie Kelley brought a new style of play to the Trojans. They came to Douglass with no starters back from last year. Yet the Trojans played all the top-ranked teams in the state very competitively and beat many of them. The Trojans wore new uniforms and everyone is excited about the basketball program being built from the freshmen, sophomore. JV and Varsity levels. Douglass High School Basketball will soon be the dominant basketball program in the State. Coach Phil Ingersoll Robert Finley sets his sights high on a bucket for the Trojans. 'w n For Roundballer 1.
