Holmes Counselors guide students in educational program It anyone knows the students at our school, then it must be the counselors. They are more tamiliar with the stu- dents problems, attributes, backgrounds and desires than anyone else. Besides helping the students to structure their schedules, the counselors administer tests, aid in tuture vocations, col- lege selections or whatever choice the student has to make. Sometimes the counselors must make dispositions ot cases involving discipline as well as special recognition tor a job well done. This year's sophomore class came into Douglass with an ettervescence exhibiting a sincere desire to do, and they really did. Several times they captured the spirit stick at pep assemblies. The athletic teams were complemented by their participation and they made themselves known academically. Boasting the largest class in the school, they sought to tit in rather than to stand out. Even though this was ac- complished, they still maintained a certain individualized identity as a group. ln this time ot contusion and uncertainties, the sopho- mores must tind values and ideals. Many were able to establish concrete toundations and move torward into the complex ot our modern society. 22 and i Ea, Adams, Sandra Alexander, Ernestine Ashton, Jacqueline Bacon, Trina Barnett, Betty LHVYLEQL Akridge, William Alexander, Lynell Atkinson, Jeannie Baggett, Gloria Barnett, Cheryl Albritton, Jerome Arinwine, Romilda Avery, Larry Baldwin, Geary Barnett, Yvonne all HE is 2' 'A if r , Tis-c B Balcerville, Camelia Baskin. The Douglass gladiators were 22-O victors over Duniee betore they tell to the Mid State Champions, the Bombers ot Midwest City, 28-6. Thoroughly peeved, the Troians returned home the tollowing weelc to pounce on John Marshall in a game delayed more than two hours by power tailure. The Troian power did not tail and they prevailed, 45-26. Enid, three consecutive Class AAA championship holder, rolled into Troian Country and barely escaped with a 26-24 victory over the Troians. Foreign travel was again the word and the Troians pulled their con- terence record even tor the second time by blasting U. S. Grant 38-6 to spoil the Generals homecoming. Lady Luclc trowned and the Troians dropped their next three grid con- tests. The trip to Shawnee was truitless and again the boys absorbed a crushing deteat. The Wolves ripped the Troians 3l-I2 to celebrate their homecoming. Unlcnown to tans was the sguealcer that was in store tor them when the Troians went against the Putnam City Pirates who won the contest 28-2l in the tinal minutes ot the contest.
