Team Pulled Together For Bulldogs The D.H.S. Football Team made local news when Jerry Houser was interviewed by the KSN Newscenter 3 Sports Team. Jerry was recognized for his outstanding plays as a running back in the game against Belle Plaine when he scored eighteen points. The final score was 31-12. Behind every football star are his teammates. The whole team was also responsible for victories and defeats. The team was tremendously unique. One member was a Norwegian soccer player who contributed a great deal to the team as a kicker, another major kicker and a local man, Curt Roberts, shared this credit. The Bulldogs came a long way and no one told the fans that their team wasn't 1. The team finished with a record of 7 and 2. Football Cheerleaders The football cheerleaders of 1985 were a very talented, high spirited group of women. When they went to summer camp at Fort Hayes State University, they took many individual awards and brought home the overall championship for their exceptional cheering. With the leadership of head cheerleader, Krissy Bell, senior; and their sponsors, Mrs. Rinser, Mr. Mykel and Mr. Parker, they had a great year of bringing spirit to the football team. Other members of the squad were: Staci Sharp, senior; Ginger Martin, junior; Carol Harris, sophomore; Shannon Hiebert, sophomore; Starla Miller, sophomore; and Ami Parker, freshman.
