Most people think of history as a relatively boring class. It’s not like English where verb tenses can vary, making more than one possible answer. Only one answer will do and if you miss it, you're out of luck. Like all classes, the teacher has a lot to do with the interest and involvement of students. This year the yearbook has been dedicated to Mr. Morris Gillaspie. He has been a teacher at bouglass High School for three years, and is a major contributor to our school system. Mr. Gillaspie is the geography, world history and American history teacher. In many ways he has influenced the students in their school work because of the way he teaches. Because of Mr. Gillaspie, students have become interested and involved in a class which could be boring. Comments made by some of the students about Mr. G. have been, “He is an excellent teacher and he really cares!” or “He is concerned with your grades and if you have a problem he will listen and try to help you.” The one comment heard most when asking about Mr. G. was that “He is fair to all students, beyond fair.” 1984-1985 yearbook dedicated to Mr. Gillaspie from DHS students Mr. Gillaspie is the assistant football coach, head basketball coach, and assistant track coach. Players enjoy Mr. G. because he is a good coach, and easy to get along with. A comment from a player was “He is a very dedicated coach who always does the best for the team.” A teacher with an outlook as great as Mr. G’s has got to be someone special. Thanks for caring!
