Varsity and junior varsity made an appearance in new uniforms to help start the season. Everyone advanced and learned skills fast. But, Douglass varsity had some frustrating times. It was hard setting and keeping their own pace in a game. At times it took them a whole game before they would get the aggressive animalistic attitude. The Douglass variety ended the season with 5 wins and 21 losses. They went into Sub-State seated eighth. The varsity squad left from Douglass High School two hours early for Sub-State playoffs. The team had an hour to wake-up and get some serious thinking done about the game ahead. They played Belle Plaine three games. The first game was lost to the Dragons 15-4. The second game the Bulldogs came from behind 14-3 to win 16-14. The third and final game was taken by the Dragons. All hopes of going to State were lost. There were many individual victories accomplished during a game. Down-hard spikes, gave our team a surge of powerful energy. The main subject in volleyball is to “get ahead and “keep ahead’ and “pound on the other team . Once these goals of mental punishment towards the other team is accomplished, you’re in the lead. 24 Volleyball
