Our Appreciation To The 'D.H.S. Booster Club Virginia Macy — 1981-1982 Booster Club President The Booster Club this year did many things to support D.H.S. Athletes. They held a “Dunk the Coaches and Faculty Day with a free ice cream and cake social. They also honored the Coaches on Coaches Day by taking them to the Coachman Inn in Derby for supper. The Boosters had many fund raising projects. For the not on home territory games the Boosters fixed sandwiches, cookies and pop for the athletes, managers and coaches. They purchased a billboard for the High School lawn to display the events that take place at school. For the past three years the Booster Club has held the Athletic Banquet at the High School in honor of the athletes and coaches. This year's officers were Virginia Macy — President, Lucinda Green — Vice President, Georgia Bergley — Secretary Treasurer, and Connie Rausch — Editor. 29

Unfortunately, this record kept the Bulldogs from going to any play-off games. There were eight senior football players on the team for the season. Although the season was not what was expected, four players received recognition. Three of them captured league titles. Honored with an All League title was senior Mike Rausch. He played tackle for the Bulldogs during the 1981 season. In addition, he is a four-year letterman in football. The Douglass student body was not too surprised to learn that Mike had signed an intent to accept a football scholarship with Southwestern College in Winfield. Senior Gary Lanier, tailback, was nominated All League Honorable Mention. Joining him was senior, Chuck Kobbe, split end. The only returning player who received an Honorable Mention was Sophomore Eugene Potts, Fullback. Coaches Corner The Douglass High School football program has developed a strong tradition over the past few years, and it has achieved a winning percentage that few have ever equalled in the state of Kansas. It has been the goal of the coaching staff to emphasize the human qualities necessary to make a positive contrubution to our society in the process. As Head Football Coach, I wish to thank all the athletes and boosters who have made this venture possible. 30
