The Girls Basketball tear started out the season witi what seemed to be a losing streak. But, they showed everyone what they could do when they had finished the SCKL Tourney at Central. They accomplished an astounding victory by beating the number one rated team in the league, Bluestem, and finally placing fourth after being rated the underdog. The girls finished the season with a 3-18 record, but they deserve an enormous pat on the back for their work, dedication, and representation of the team and school. It is designed to teach its participants the structure and importance of involvement in local and state government. Each year the Douglass Chapter of the American Legion sends two girls and three boys from Douglass High School to take part in the week-long activities. The students chosen are selected from the Junior Class by the High School Faculty. Their election is based on many things such as altitude, involvement, and leadership qualities. Cadet Lawman Academy This year, Douglass High School Junior Ronnie Morgan was selected to attend this week-long activity. The purpose of the Cadet Lawman Academy is to help young men gain knowledge regarding the training and responsibilities of Law Enforcement Officers. Hopefully, they will better understand and have greater respect and apprcciaiton for lawmen at all levels. 42 PHOTOGRAPHERS Sitting: Carmen Meyer. Standing: Greg Dunagan.
