It is designed to teach its participants the structure and importance of involvement in local and state government. It is sponsored by the American Legion. Each year, the Douglass Chapter of the American Legion sends three boys and two girls from Douglass High School to take part in the week-long activities. The Men's auxiliary sponsors the boys and the Ladies Auxiliary sponsors the girls. The students chosen are selected from the Junior Class by the high school faculty . Their election is based on several things, such as attitude, involvement, and leadership qualities. This annual event is a unique and rewarding experience and those chosen to go are very fortunate to be able to attend. 44 Board Of Education And Administration Front Row Robert A.
