DOUGLASS HIGH SCHOOL DOUGLASS, KANSAS Best Wishes of BRANINE CHEVROLET CO. The Beginning of a new school project began with the new Auditorium, combined with the shop and school cafeteria. This building was completed in November, 1953 Compliments of NEWMAN'S T. V. Repair and GENE MAXWELL, Insurance Agent Miss Mary Markham was crowned the 1955 Annual Queen for Douglass High School on the evening of January 2U. She was crowned by Donald McBee, one of the Student Council Members. Her first attendant was Mattie Stewart who was escorted by Cecil Barnes. The other twc attendants were Marjory Rains and Lorraine Graves. Their escorts were Raymond Knoll and Don Bra-nine. The Queen wore yellow roses on a soft brown wool dress. Her attendants wore different colored carnations according to the color of their dresses. A semi-formal dance followed the cor-nation in honor of Queen Mary. Marjory Raymond, Compliments of LAJTTKRMAN'S Mary Markham Mattie, Queen Mary, Don, Cecil, Don, The Honor Students are selected on a basis of points made on grades and participation in activities with most emphasis placed on grades. Betsy accumulated a total of 56 points to win in the girls' division and Ellis had 5U.
