4 opening Changes affect fresh start In the weeks to follow, the bathrooms got smokier, the cafeteria dirtier and the parking lot fuller. Assistant Principal Ms. Mary Raby left to become prin- cipal at Hoffman and in came Hambrick's Mr. Bobby Ezell to replace her. As the year continued, so did the fresh start. Cheerleaders were in the cafeteria at 6:45 every morning with fresh doughnuts. The Volleyball team set a new district record. A new bookstore was established by the English department. Things even improved in the classroom itself. The majority of the typewriters were working. Shorthand teachers issued brand new books. Science labs smelled like Lysol for a change instead of dissected frogs. Teach- ers changed their bulletin boards occasionally and the eraser man came by regularly. lt was the chalk they were short on this year, or so it seemed! During the year there were numerous events that even though they were held annually, had new facets, new par- ticipants and a fresh start. These were the students' life. Not Me. Turning the class and hoping to lose his place, Victor Ramirez is hoping he won't be called on to read. the front of And a one, two, three.
