,R S, , g '5g-f -,,.,. Q kttkx A new club joined the ranks of Douglas MacArthur's fine group of elective clubs. It was the D.M. Business Club, founded by the four business teachers: Mrs. Bottke, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Call, and Mr. Donahue. The Business Club got off to a fine start in its first year. The club officers were elected in September. They were President Kym Carreong Vice-President Carol Snokeg Secretary Gloria Therriang Treasurer Theresa Zwingman and historians, Phil Vescio and Chris Andreas. The group put on two skill days, a day where business students took competitive tests in all areas of business. A softball game against the Spanish Club was also planned. The Business Club also raised money to send students from Mr. Call's retailing and marketing classes to the regional and state Deca Meets lDistributive Education Clubs of Americal. Deca is a national marketing club for high school students interested in the marketing aspect of business. MacArthur did extraordinarily well in the regional competition in Lapeer. These winners were able to advance to the state meet in Dear- born. Amy Guimond, Anne Bieri, Eric Gonzales, qualified for nationals in Kansas City this summer. Mr. Call said that this year had the most state qualifiers from MacAthur. Business Clubf23

w- Q sf fx Some of the best general impres- sions are made by the Douglas MacArthur Student Congress! This group is made up of elected student representatives from each class. It is the primary student governing body of Douglas MacArthur High School. Its goals are to promote leadership, school spirit, and school pride. It provides beneficial activities for both the school and community. It secures good staff and student relations, which helps to PFOITIOYG educational opportunities, and primarily activities of special interest to the entire student body. Some of the past year's activities included a food drive and a coat drive to assist needy people in Saginaw Township. The Student Congress is responsible for activities planned during Spirit Week, and Spring Fever Week. They are also responsible for running the school store.
