Varsity Baseball MacArthur's Varsity baseball team didn't exactly get off to the same start that the Tiger's did, but they finished strong, and that's what counts. The Generals opened up the sea- son with four straight losses but won five in a row before losing one game in a double header to Chesaning. However, that one loss didn't stop them! They went on to win another five in a row. After a fine 16 and 10 record. The awards banquet was held Iune 6, and the following players received awards: M.V.P. Scott Iacqmain, M.I.P. Wayne Gallery, B.D.P. Mike McTaggart, B.O.P. Scott Iacqmain, and the Three Year Varsity awards went to McTaggart. Coach Kaligian said, They had a very good season but got off to a bad start, losing the first four. But they kids played hard and we came out strong in the end. Wayne Gallery, Iohn Iacoby, Scott Iacqmain, Mike McTaggert, and Bob Spence, were nominated for All White Pine Conference. M ..

Baseball losses out- numbered their wins, first year Coach Lee Benzenberg views the guys as big winners when it comes to teamwork and effort. The guys really worked hard. They hustled and gave everything they had. They gave 10OU!0 at all times. Benzenberg feels the team's number of losses might have discouraged the team but instead the Generals fought back harder to get a win. The Coach says, Hav- ing to come back from their number of losses was a big learning experience for the Generals. The DM ballplayers ended the season with an 8-16 record. They earned third place in the White Pine Conference and second place in the Mt. Pleasant 'Tournaments in which they participated. DM's two big IV hitters were Iason Butzin and Rob,Landeryou who both ended the season with two homeruns each. Butzin fin- ished the season with the team's highest RBI of 24 while Landeryou came in second with a 22. Ron Fries was the General's number one pitcher with a five win two loss season record. Two team awards were given to the players at the season's end. The Most Valu- able Player Award was given to Ron Fries while Ieff Snyder was the recipient of the Most Improved Player Award.
