Hockey In the words of junior Steve Stewart, The successful season was due to lots of talent and players with depth. A successful season it was indeed. The talented DM Hockey Team won the League Championship again this year, mak- ing it the fourth year in a row the Generals have earned this title. Next year the team will be losing three talented Seniors, Sam Shaheen, Dave Koepplinger and Greg Frank. However, the team and coaches alike are convinced it will be their best season yet and are especially intent on beating Sault Ste. Marie which has given them the most trouble in the past. Coach Dick Curry says, We made a lot of strides toward next season and he added that for the first time the DM Icemen will have a good chance of going on to win the Dis- trict and State Championships next year. The players feel this goal can be accomplished. Next year will be our best year because next year's Seniors will be at their peak, says Iunior Mark Van Horn. As for this year, the DM Skaters were looking good on the rink in more ways than one. The team pur- chased' new snappy-looking cooperalls. These new pants pleased the Generals as well as their fans and they all feel it was a worthwhile and much needed investment. Steve Stewart and Brian Schultz both received The Most Improved Player Award at this year's Hockey Awards Banquet. The Most Valu- able Player Offense Award was given to Senior Greg Frank, while Paul Colligan received the MVP Award for Defense. The most Ver- satile Player Award was given to both Iohn lacoby and Mike Nichol- son.
