' 6 6 ' 22 6 ' 28 25 The Douglas MacArthur 'Varsity Football Team had a better season than their record showed. Despite 6 losses, they beat some tough teams like Mt. Pleasant and Bridgeport. Including the team's efforts were some indiividual stand-outs: Senior Matt Call made All-White Pine Defense and All-Area Class B and Honorable Mention for The Detroit Free Press Class B State Team. Mike McTaggart, another senior, accumulated over 930 yards in total offense and made All-White Pine on offense and Class B All-Area. Iunior George Bruske, defensive end, was chosen for defensive posi- tion on the All-White Pine Team. Team trophies, chosen by the players were awarded to: Quarter- back Mark Van Horn, Offensive Captain: Noseguard Scott Teal, De- fensive Captaing Noseguard George Webber, Spirit Awardg and Tackle Chris Buckley, Three Year Varsity Award. Coach Mel Skillman summed up the season, The 1983 version of the Big Mac Attack was not as successful in the won-lost columns as some teams of the past but con- sidering our level of competition it was understandable. Four of our losses were to teams that were 7-2, one was to an 8-1 opponent, and the other to 6-3 Eisenhower, who defeated Tri Valley Champion Garber 17-0. Even though we were fairly small in size and number our desire was always at a high level. This team played to its potential. All Stater Matt Call was our team M.V.P. and leader. Matt, Mike McTaggart, George Bruske, and Chris Buckley were All Conference selections. lUpper Leftl Front Row: R. Giltrop, D. Herzog, P. Vescio, E. Gonzales. 2nd Row:G. Weber, S. Stewart, I. Fry, M.
