Boys Soccer Congratulations are at hand for the 1983 soccer team. The varsity kickers compiled the first unblemished record in the histo1'y of the squad, coming out of the regular season 13-0. The team was destined to place high in State competition, and place high they did with a No.4 final ranking. Their success should come as no surprise, though, as the Gen- erals practiced together year round, taking to the Ottawa building and Delta College gyms in the winter months. The Generals' season ended ab- ruptly in the State quarterfinals with a 1-0 penalty shot loss to Okemos High School. It was a very questionable call by the referee, commented Matt Majoros. The Eisenhower contests proved to be a bit more fruitful, though, as MacArthur blanked the Ikes 2-0 and 4-0. The games boosted our morale a lot and we loved the front page news publicity, admitted Matt Novak. Receiving top honor this year was Bill Weadock, taking home the Players' Award. Bill was voted re- cipient by his teammates on the ba- sis of attitude, ability, and overall leadership. Coach Stone also bestowed Coach's Awards upon lim Letson for his defensive endeavors and Dave Taylor for his offensive efforts. Tom White, Bill Weadock, and Dave Taylor picked up first team, second team, and honorable mention, respectively in the All- State selections.
