Students found the stores around us conve- nient when they had forgotten their typing paper for class or felt the urge to eat a candy bar. During football season, the stores has posters in their windows that supported our team. Stopping off at HEB to get a coke before an afternoon practice or meeting was common. For seniors doing their term papers, a quick stop at Winns to get notecards before class was in- evitable, especially when the teachers took 10 points off your - grade if you didn't have them. Not only did the stores supply our school needs, they also carried food for our pangs of hunger.
